A Powerball ticket worth $100,000 and winning third prize was sold in New York.

The ticket was purchased for Monday's drawing

and had four matching numbers and a Powerball.

The winning numbers for the draw were 17, 26, 37, 61, 65

for the white balls and 2 for the red Powerball. The ticket was a Power Play ticket

meaning the original prize amount was tripled to $100,000 due to a Power Play multiplier of 2.

The Power Play feature allows winners to multiply non-jackpot prizes by

2, 3, 4, 5, or 10 times for an additional $1 per play.

Powerball tickets can be bought from any New York Lottery retailer for $2, seven days a week.

The deadline for purchasing a ticket is 9:45 p.m. on draw nights

which are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

The New York Lottery encourages players to buy their tickets early to avoid last-minute lines.

The winning numbers are drawn from a field of one to 69

with the Powerball number drawn from a separate field of one to 26.

The Powerball drawing is televised every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 11 p.m.

The jackpot for the draw to be held on Wednesday night is an estimated $526 million.

To win the jackpot, players must match all five white balls in any order

and the red Powerball number. The New York Lottery app allows players to check their tickets securely
